I recently read an article in O Magazine entitled Find out what you were born to do. While I haven't always believed in an absolute calling in one's profession, there is research that exists that people live longer, work happier, and over all experience a more satisfying life when they identify their strengths and run with them. How does one identify his/her strengths? Take a self quiz or go to a career center; there are many that are available.
There are free ones; one of the most common and valid (a term researchers use to say that their survey is actually measuring what it says it measures) is found on the Authentic Happiness website. You will have to get a user name and password (don't worry; you don't get on spam lists). Take the Survey of Character Strengths; you will walk away with a list of your top strengths.
Know your strengths! This will benefit you personally and professionally.
